Jakarta Not Involved in Organizing Formula E 2023

11 May 2023 21:53 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono confirmed that the provincial government was not involved in organizing Formula E Jakarta 2023. The electric car racing competition is the agenda of city-owned PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) under a business-to-business (B2B) scheme.

“So the local government is not involved at all,” Joko said when met at the Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, May 11, 2023.

He added that the city government did not spend any money on this international event as there is no commitment fee that must be paid. “There is no commitment fee now. That existed in the previous era. The local government has not spent any money on the implementation of this year’s Formula E.”

According to him, the Provincial Government had also completely handed over the search for sponsors to Jakpro as the organizer.

Ivan Permana, Jakpro’s Director of Commerce and Operations, revealed that the racing event will be sponsored by a number of private, regional-owned, and state-owned companies. He claimed that they are highly interested in supporting the agenda.

“So we invite all Indonesian elements that this is our event together. The success of Formula E is a joint success. So, we support each other,” Ivan said on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. However, he said he could not yet reveal the sponsorship of this electric car race championship.
