TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), during a visit to review damaged roads in Central Lampung district, informed that the central government will allocate a budget of Rp800 billion (around US$54.5 million) for road repairs in Lampung.
"For now, we seek to repair the heavily damaged roads in Lampung, be it at the district, municipal, or provincial level," he informed during a visit to Seputih Raman Road, Central Lampung, on Friday.
He affirmed that this year, the central government will provide a dedicated budget of Rp800 billion for road repairs in Lampung province.
"We will provide Rp800 billion specifically for Lampung to support repair works on 15 roads, including this (Seputih Raman) road," he informed.
The repair process, he said, would begin in June 2023 as an auction will first need to be held to select contractors.
"We have to go through the auction process first. Thus, I immediately instructed the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to work on it. The repair itself will begin in June," he informed.
He also expressed the hope that the road repairs would support local residents in their activities.
"These roads have been damaged for a long time. With that in mind, we decided to take over the repair in the hope that it will help the local community," he added.
