PDIP Appoints Ganjar as Presidential Candidate, Ganjar: Hopefully I am able

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo will immediately carry out consolidation efforts in the Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) after being appointed by Megawati Soekarnoputri as a presidential candidate for 2024. Ganjar asserted that consolidation is needed to gain the full support of the party's central and regional executive board.
"We hoped for support, we hoped for criticism and opinion, this is the momentum for us to consolidate our power to unite. One for all, all for one," Ganjar said at Batutulis Palace in Bogor on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Ganjar explained that he is always accepts instructions from the party since he was in lower ranks, such as forming the Disaster Mitigation Agency and Regional Autonomy Department for PDIP and then becoming a member of the House of Representatives for two terms, and becoming Governor of Central Java for two terms.
"Now, Madam [Megawati] gives me a much heavier mandate to me. I hope I can, God's willing, I will fight well as the presidential candidate of the Republic of Indonesia," Ganjar said.
Megawati said that the announcement of Ganjar as a presidential candidate was done after conducting a long discussion with many parties. Megawati also claimed that she has made contemplations before naming Ganjar as a presidential candidate.
"At 1:45 PM, In the name of Almighty God, [I] appoint Ganjar Pranowo, now governor of Central Java as a cadre and party member to be escalated as the presidential candidate of the Republic of Indonesia from the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle," Megawati said.
In addition, Megawati also tasked Ananda Prabowo as the head of the PDIP situation room to monitor the national political condition. Megawati also tasked Anandi to carry out consolidation within the party.
Megawati also assigned Puan Maharani to a new task for the 2024 Election. "I gave a mandate to Poan to form a team for the winning campaign and election legislative for the 2024 Election," Megawati said.
