TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Traffic Police expected a rise in the number of the homecoming-travelers today, April 19. It will add more contraflow traffic lanes starting from KM 47 to KM 72 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.
"We'll see every one hour, if [the traffic] seems to recede, we'll return it to normal," said traffic police official Brig. Gen. Aan Suhanan, as cited from NTMC Polri page today.
Aan said that his institution will try to keep on time in taking decisions to add or reduce the capacity of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road. The increasing number of mudik travelers occurred since Tuesday night, based on the police data.
"Tonight, it is predicted there will be more (numbers of cars on the toll road). Meaning that the people start to leave for Eid homecoming trip," he said.
Aan added that many mudik travelers departed in the evening or after fast-breaking time, after Taraweeh prayer, and even after suhoor time.
Lines of cars were visible at the Cikampek Utama toll gate. But Jasa Marga, state toll road operator, said that the lines of mudik travelers' cars at the Jakarta-Cikampek toll were still within reasonable limits.
