TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - President director of state airport operator Angkasa Pura II, Muhammad Awaluddin, on Thursday projects there would be 5.25 million cumulative movements of passengers and aircraft in this year's Eid homecoming period. This is up by 25.4 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Meanwhile, he predicts aircraft traffic will amount to a total of 36,000 flights or an 11 percent increase but warns that such a congested nature of the Eid holiday must be backed up by mature preparations. "These improvements must be properly managed by AP II airports,” he said.
Awaluddin elaborates that Angkasa Pura II airports will prepare for this influx of passengers by focusing on adjusting operational hours and slot time capacity based on collective evaluation and coordination between stakeholders.
In line with the Instructions of the Director General of Civil Aviation, said Awaluddin, AP II airport ensured the readiness of personnel and facilities to maintain operational, service, security, and safety aspects during the busiest period of the year.
Awaluddin emphasized that this year's Lebaran Transportation is different from the last 3 years because it is expected that there will be a surge in passengers.
