TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, stated that the government is committed to accelerating economic transformation. One of the ways is to provide Value Added Tax (VAT) incentives for the purchase of electric cars and buses.
Luhut said the incentive for the purchase of battery-based cars and buses will take effect this month.
“In its implementation, this program will take place in stages and in a measurable way,” he said in a written statement released on Monday, April 3.
The incentive is stipulated in the Finance Minister’s Regulation (PMK) Number 38 of 2023. This incentive is valid for the 2023 fiscal year, starting from the tax period of April until December 2023.
According to Luhut, this program is in line with the roadmap for accelerating the use of electric vehicles and refers to Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019.
“The incentive is given to electric cars and electric buses with certain criteria for the Domestic Component Level (TKDN),” Luhut explained.
The models and types of electric vehicles that meet TKDN requirements are stipulated in the Industry Minister’s Decree Number 1641 of 2023.
