TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yogi Arie Rukmana, who is the personal assistant for the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, on Wednesday filed a police report against Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) chairperson Sugeng Teguh Santoso over defamation.
“This evening I have filed a complaint in response to his statement over defamation allegation against myself,” said Yogi to journalists at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) headquarters on March 15, Antaranews reported.
The conflict between Yogi and Sugeng came after IPW reported a deputy minister – believed to be Edward Omar – to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) over a gratification allegation. In his complaint form, IPW claims the deputy minister received a kickback from one of his personal assistants, which directly points at Yogi.
According to Yogi, most of the allegations by the IPW chairman remain untrue and wants to let the legal processes prove his innocence. Yogi claims he will cooperate with the KPK in providing clarification but will also let the police report continue.
IPW on Tuesday officially filed a report against the deputy minister to the anti-corruption agency over possible gratification that amounts to Rp7 billion, which they claim was received by his two personal assistants.
