TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Greater Jakarta Regional Police have deployed sniffer dogs to find victims suspected to be trapped among the debris of a settlement damaged in a fire that started at Pertamina Plumpang Depot Integrated Fuel Terminal on Friday.

"We send five sniffer dogs or K9 from the Directorate of Samapta (on-the-alert unit) of the Greater Jakarta Regional Police to search for victims who have not been found," said Head of Public Relations at the Greater Jakarta Regional Police Senior Commissioner Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko on Saturday.

He said he expected that the K9 will be able to find the missing people at the location of the fire, especially at the sites of heavily damaged buildings, without delay.

Earlier, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo informed that three people were still declared missing in the disaster, which occurred at state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina's fuel terminal located in South Rawabadak Village, Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta.

The fire broke out on Friday (March 3, 2023) at around 8:10 p.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB).

"Yes, it was reported that there were still three missing (people). Currently, we are still waiting for the results of the investigation," Prabowo said at Koja 01 Subdistrict Military Command (Koramil), North Jakarta, on Saturday.

Earlier, eight residents had been reported missing in the fire.

As of Saturday afternoon, the National Police Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, had received 15 bags containing the bodies of victims who lost their lives in the disaster.

The bags contained nine male, five female bodies, and a part of one body.

"There are approximately 15 deceased victim bodies at the (National Police) Kramat Jati Hospital, which are currently undergoing a post-mortem examination,” Prabowo said.

So far, the Disaster Victim and Identification (DVI) Team of the National Police has managed to identify the bodies of two victims based on their fingerprints, said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo.
