Indonesian Ministry of Manpower, Saudi Arabia Sign Cooperation on Migrant Workers Project

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah said that the Ministry of Manpower is strengthening several strategies to develop link and match employment and expand the overseas job market in facing future challenges.
Ida Fauziyah said that to expand the foreign job market, the Government of Indonesia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had signed a Technical Arrangement on a One-Canal Placement System (SPSK) Pilot Project, for Limited Placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Saudi Arabia, on August 11, 2022.
As a follow-up to this signing, he continued, the two countries had finished integrating the application so that SPSK could be immediately implemented in Saudi Arabia.
"The process has now entered the stage of recruiting PMI candidates, to be inputted into SPSK," said Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abdul Aziz Ahmad, at the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Sunday, 26th of February 2023.
On that occasion, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah also reviewed the readiness of the Indonesian Embassy in implementing SPSK in Saudi Arabia, including the readiness of the necessary resources, facilities and infrastructure.
"We ask for the support of the ambassador to be able to help oversee the commitment of the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in implementing SPSK," she said.
With the support from the Indonesian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, she continued, diplomacy between Indonesia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of manpower could get better and improve.
She stated that the challenge of employment became one of the issues related to other issues, such as economy, health, social, and resilience.
Therefore, she said, the ministry, which is responsible for the field of manpower, has a top priority in facing the challenges of manpower in the future.
