TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah and the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Lu Kang have agreed to collaborate to enhance the vocational training and competencies of Indonesian human resources.

The collaboration was marked by Ambassador Kang's visit to the Manpower Ministry’s office on Monday. The ambassador was received by Minister Fauziyah and thereafter, they discussed a number of issues related to the manpower sector.

"I hope that in the near future, the cooperation with the Chinese government for vocational training can be increased by developing a training program for electric car maintenance," Fauziyah said in Jakarta on Monday.

Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China have entered their 74th year in 2023, she noted. This close partnership is a strong foundation for strengthening friendships, especially in the field of manpower.

The minister said her ministry has already collaborated with several Chinese companies, especially with regard to capacity development and competency improvement.

The companies that have entered into cooperation agreements (PKS) with the ministry are engaged in nickel ore processing and telecommunication services, she disclosed.

She said she hopes that the Chinese government will support the industry mapping of Chinese companies in Indonesia and cooperate in improving and developing Vocational Training Center and Productivity (BPVP) in Indonesia.

"We hope that BPVP can provide competent human resources (HR) and meet the needs of the industrial market standard," she added.

The minister informed that currently, her ministry is also exploring cooperation with the Chinese government to conduct a joint job fair involving Chinese companies in Indonesia.

"We welcome the Chinese government's wish to conduct a joint job fair with Chinese companies in Indonesia," she added.

Besides human resource development and job market information, the meeting also discussed knowledge and information exchange, workforce training and supervision, and community empowerment around these projects.

"I hope this meeting can strengthen good relations and cooperation between the Indonesian and Chinese governments," the minister said.
