TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The second batch of Indonesia's humanitarian aid for Turkey reached the southern Turkish city of Adana on Monday (February 13, 2023) at 9 p.m. local time (UTC +3).

Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Lalu Muhammad Iqbal and the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency's (AFAD's) humanitarian aid coordinator, Mehmet Gulluoglu, personally welcomed the arrival of the aid at Adana Sakirpasa Airport.

"Welcome my brother to Turkiye. Thank you for your sincere expression of solidarity. I am touched by your presence when we need it most," Gulluoglu said, according to a statement released by the Indonesian embassy.

The humanitarian delegation consisted of emergency medical team (EMT) personnel drawn from the Indonesian Police, the Indonesian Defence Forces (TNI), the Health Ministry, and other institutions, along with 40 tons of logistics and field hospital assistance.

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the Foreign Affairs Ministry, and the Health Ministry served as coordinators of the delegation.

Moreover, members of the Muhammadiyah Disaster Mitigation Center (MDMC), Nahdlatul Ulama, and specialist medical associations also joined the delegation to assist victims of the February 6 quake.

After arriving in Adana, the Indonesia EMT team underwent acclimatization and received an entry briefing from the Indonesian ambassador regarding the latest situation in the field to help the team carry out their duties optimally.

The team then directly left for their determined site and started the development of a 2.5-hectare field hospital that would be manned by one hundred medical and paramedical personnel.

The field hospital will be located on the outskirts of a village in Hassa city, Hatay province, to ensure that it is accessible to earthquake victims in Hassa and surrounding regions who are yet to receive medical treatment.

Indonesia has provided humanitarian assistance for Turkey in three batches. The first two batches have reached, and the third batch will land in Turkey on February 18, according to the embassy.
