TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lion Air management has officially issued an apology over the incident on Thursday which went viral on Thursday after the wing tip of one of its fleets, the JT-797, collided with a jet bridge at the Mopah Merauke Airport earlier this morning. This caused the plane that carried 122 passengers to postpone its departure.
“Lion Air offers our apology for the inconvenience it caused,” said Lion Air strategic corporate communications Danang Mandala Prihantoro in a statement on January 26.
Incident to be investigated
The airline, along with authorities, is currently investigating the incident. Danang asserted that the cause of the incident should not be speculated until the investigation is complete.
Passengers onboard the aircraft were then diverted to the airport’s terminal to wait for further information. Lion Air provides facilities to all passengers based on applicable regulations, including transferring flights to other airlines according to seat availability, and ticket refund processes according to passenger requests.
