BMKG Warns Possible Heavy Rain in Jakarta This Afternoon

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a weather forecast for Jakarta today, January 24, 2023. Parts of the capital are predicted to be showered by rain in the afternoon. 

In detail, light rainfall is predicted to wet West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta, while other areas will be cloudy.

“Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in short duration in South Jakarta and East Jakarta in the afternoon and evening,” the agency announced on its official website, Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

At night, the capital's weather will likely be cloudy. Rain is predicted to start showering the city in the early hours of Wednesday. Moderate-intensity rain is forecasted to occur throughout Jakarta, except East Jakarta which has the potential for drizzle

Additionally, the agency forecasted light-intensity rain in Bogor Regency, Bogor City, and Bekasi City this afternoon. In the evening, light rainfall will again shower Bogor City.

Throughout the day, the weather in Bogor Regency, Bogor City, and Tangerang is predicted to be cloudy.

BMKG also issued weather early warnings for parts of Depok City, Bogor Regency, and Bogor City. The public is advised to stay alert for the potential for moderate to heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds from noon to evening.
