TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Tanjung Priok Branch of the PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PT Pelni), Nuraini Desi, said that the peak increase in passengers for Christmas and New Year's homecoming at the Tanjung Priok Port happen on Friday, December 23, 2022.

The KM Dorolonda passenger ship was the first to depart on Friday, at 10:00 WIB from Tanjung Priok Port carrying 1,324 passengers. The ship is heading to the port of destination in Surabaya, Makassar, Bau Bau, Namlea, Ambon, Ternate, and Bitung.

"Today is the peak of the increase in the number of passengers, there are 1,324 passengers on the Dorolonda ship with destinations to Surabaya, Makassar, Bau Bau, Namlea, Ambon, Ternate and Bitung," said Desi in front of the media crew at Tanjung Priok Port.

Currently, there are still two more ships that are going to depart, one of them is KM Gunung Dempo at 20:00 WIB to Surabaya, Makassar, Sorong, Manokwari, Wasior, Nabire and Jayapura.

The other ship, KM Kelud, will depart at 23:59 WIB, heading to Batam, Tanjung Balai Karimun and Belawan.

Desi conveyed that PT Pelni has prepared about 18 ships to deal with the increase in the number of passengers during the Christmas and New Year's homecoming at Tanjung Priok port, from 18 December 2022 to 8 January 2023.

From the 18 ships, until today, her group has sent four units of ships capable of carrying a total of 4,360 passengers, namely KM Nggapulu, KM Bukit Raya, KM Lawit and KM Ciremai.

During this occasion, Desi also conveyed that PT Pelni is still implementing strict health protocols during this Christmas and New Year's moment, in which passengers must have already received the third vaccine (booster) to be able to board the ship.

"Our ticket sales system is already connected with PeduliLindungi. When entering the NIK number from the identity card (KTP) during an attempt to buy a ticket, it will automatically show whether the passengers have already received the vaccine, if a passenger has only been vaccinated twice, under the requirements by the Ministry of Transportation, the passenger will not be allowed to buy tickets and board the ship," said Desi.
