TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday said there might be a reshuffle in his administration after journalists asked a question about another possible Cabinet reshuffle. This became a public discourse after a survey conducted by pollster Charta Politika Indonesia saw most respondents agree that Jokowi should impose change on his state ministers.
“There might be [a reshuffle],” said the President at the Bogor Regency, West Java, on December 23.
However, he did not speak in detail about the possible reshuffle. “[We’ll see] later,” he answered.
A survey by Charta Politika Indonesia conducted from December 6 to 18 saw a majority of respondents agree that the Indonesia Forward Cabinet – the theme of the current administration – should be reshuffled. The pollster’s executive director Yunarto Wijaya said those who agreed reached 61.8 percent.
“I might think this is a crucial aspect for Jokowi if he intends to leave behind a legacy,” said Yunarto.
Based on the poll, the main driver in the majority of agreement lies in the performance of state ministers and that there are a number of Cabinet members who are seeking to run for the presidency in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
“I agree that this must be noted that the last two years [of Jokowi’s term] will be a crucial test for a president who is unable to run for the presidency again,” he explained.
