Mangroves Planted Across 133 KM of Yogyakarta Coastline

TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The Yogyakarta Environment and Forestry Agency (DLHK) announced that it has set the goal to grow mangrove forests along the 113-kilometer coastline that passes three regencies from Gunungkidul (71km), Bantul (25km), and Kulon Progo (17km).
"The existence of the mangroves is to maintain and restore the biodiversity of coastal ecosystems," said the head of the agency Kuncoro Cahyo Aji in between the mangrove planting event at the Bantul Pengklik dan Baros mangrove forest area on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
The planting of mangrove in Pengklik and Baros area in Bantul are expected to reach an area of 22.7 hectares.
"Currently, mangrove in Pengklik has covered an area of six hectares which covers along the coast of Pengklik-Samas Beach, a total of around 5,000 mangroves have been planted there," said Kuncoro.
The mangrove planting was attended by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X.
