TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Grab Indonesia Country Managing Director Neneng Goenadi, reported that the ride-hailing firm uses 8,500 units of electric vehicles for operation.
In 2023, Grab made sure that it will bring more battery-based vehicles to several cities through collaboration with state-owned electricity firm PLN, state-owned gas and oil firm Pertamina, and a number of other parties to expand vehicle charging stations.
"In 2023, we will continue to deploy more so that more and more cities are served by electric vehicle fleets," said Neneng while attending Grab Partner Day 2022 in Yogyakarta on Sunday, December 11, 2022.
Reflecting on the G20 Summit in Bali last November, Neneng said Grab remains the pioneer in providing the largest number of electric vehicle fleets in the country.
At the G20 Summit, Grab provided around 200 units of electric motorbikes to Bali Police to secure traffic. The fleet was equipped with a 1,500-watt battery that could travel up to 60 km on a single charge.
"With our current fleet totaling 8,500 electric vehicles, we can reduce carbon emissions by around 10,000 tons or save up to 4 million liters of fuel," she informed.
Neneng explained that Grab Indonesia's entire fleet of electric vehicles is able to serve up to a distance of 100 million kilometers. "Our commitment as a great company is clear, which is to support electric-based vehicles in Indonesia," she said.
