Densus 88 Arrests 3 Terror Suspects in Lampung; Seizes Ammunition, Jihad Books

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Police's special counterterrorism squad, Densus 88, arrested three people suspected as terrorists in Lampung between November 9 and 11, 2022. The suspects are linked to the Jamaah Islamiyah network.
"Three people with the initials TY, AB, JD, are related to the criminal act of terrorism in the Lampung region," police spokesman Brig Gen. Ahmad Ramadhan said in an official press statement on Friday, November 18, 2022.
Densus 88 confiscated evidence from the suspects, namely one large PCP rifle along with 105 rounds of ammunition, one homemade revolver, 4 pieces of homemade long-barreled firearms, 3 magazines, and 825 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. "From the suspects, we also confiscated 10 books and 2 CDs related to the jihad movement," Ahmad said.
Suspect TY is the coordinator of Jamaah Islamiyah in Lampung area. He was also the deputy of Lampung's Forum Communications Pondok Pesantren (FKPP) from 2015 to 2020. In 2019, TY and JD were known to have ordered firearms with long barrels.
Suspect JD owns 520 rounds of ammunition. He had sold one homemade firearm and 430 ammunition to TY. "JD also has a long-barreled homemade firearm and a modified air rifle," Ahmad said.
Suspect AB replaced TY as coordinator of Jamaah Islamiyah Lampung after the latter was arrested. AB also received a piece of PCP Weapon Training in Lampung. "AB also organized a meeting in Bandar Lampung about raising money in Lampung for a global jihad action in Syria," said Ramadhan.
The three men are charged with several articles of Law no.5/2018 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism.
