TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - This year’s final total lunar eclipse will occur on November 8. According to Bandung's astronomical group Komunitas Langit Selatan member, Avivah Yamani, the phenomenon will take place again in the next three years.
“It's not phenomenal, but this is the last total lunar eclipse and there will only take place again in 2025,” she said on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
In 2023 and 2024, Avivah explained that it will partial and penumbral lunar eclipse. Indonesia will only see the phenomenon in 2023. As for the upcoming event, a total lunar eclipse can be observed from various regions of the world, including Indonesia.
It will be visible in regions such as northern and eastern Europe, Asia, North America, much of South America, Australia, Antarctica, and over some regions of the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, and Arctic Oceans. “All parts of Indonesia can see the eclipse, but when it is already in an eclipse condition,” Avivah added.
The total lunar eclipse will begin at 15:02:15 western Indonesian time (WIB). The partial eclipse phase will begin at 16:09:12 WIB. The full eclipse phase will begin for almost 1.5 hours from 17:16:39 to 18:41:36 WIB. The final process will end at 20:56:09 WIB.
All partial and total phases of the lunar eclipse can be seen by observers in eastern Indonesia. Observers in central Indonesia can witness the entire total phase. “For western Indonesia, the moon will already rise in a total eclipse condition,” Avivah reiterated.
