TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan inaugurated a bicycle lane under the Semanggi bridge or in Semanggi Park, South Jakarta. There will be two bicycle lanes; on the west side reaching 229 meters long and on the east side at 330 meters long. The construction has 85 percent completed.
“Not only pedestrians, bike users can also enjoy this green space,” said Anies at Semanggi Park as quoted from Antara on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
In addition to the bicycle path, access for pedestrians and the jungle bridge are each built up to two-meter wide and 157.28-meter long on the west side of Plaza Semanggi and on the east side near the Sultan Hotel up to 158.7-meter long.
He explained that the new bicycle lane will complement the bike lanes that have been built by the city administration with a total length of around 195 kilometers. Meanwhile, the pedestrian path is expected to complete the revitalization of the pavement that has been built reaching 240 kilometers.
Anies Baswedan added that the facilities inside Semanggi Park will be managed by the city-run Jakarta Tourisindo (JXB).
Meanwhile, the head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency Syafrin Liputo said the construction project of the bike lane and pedestrian path in Semanggi Park has been carried out since August 2022 and was targeted to complete by the end of October 2022.
