TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Turkish Airlines flight from Turkey to Jakarta made an emergency landing at Kualanamu Airport, Medan, on Monday, October 11, 2022, after a drunk Indonesian passenger assaulted a flight attendant, the Jakarta Metro Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Endra Zulpan has reported. The plane thus arrived late.
“Because of the ruckus on the plane, Turkish Airlines dropped the Indonesian passenger who was injured at Kualanamu Airport, Medan,” Zulpan said in a statement, Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
The drunk passenger, Muhammad John Jaiz Boudewijn, reportedly hit the flight attendant when he was reminded of his disorderly conduct during the flight. He was then beaten by other passengers.
“The Indonesian citizen who was suspected of being drunk is undergoing treatment at Kualanamu Health Clinic,” Zulpan added.
The passenger was deplaned at Kualanamu Airport and the plane continued the journey to the final destination, Jakarta.
The Turkish Airlines plane with flight number TK56 from Turkey to Jakarta was supposed to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 18:05 Jakarta time but was delayed to 19:05 Jakarta time. The next flight to Turkey was also delayed to 22:05 from 21:05 Jakarta time.
