TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Issues that say Pertalite evaporates and runs out more quickly after its price is increased went rampant on social media. State-owned gas and oil giant Pertamina denied the issue that the 90-octane fuel quality has declined.
“Pertamina is committed to distributing quality fuel products according to its specifications. Through quality control, products that do not meet specifications will not be distributed,” said Pertamina’s subsidiary Pertamina Patra Niaga secretary Irto Ginting in an official statement, Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
He asserted that the allegation is not true because the Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP), which measures the gasoline volatility rate at room temperature, is still within the limits set in the Decree of the Oil and Gas Director General.
“At present, the results of the RVP test from Pertalite distributed from Pertamina's Fuel Terminal (TBBM) are still within the permitted limits, which are in the range of 45-69 kPa (Kilopascal),” Irto explained.
He guaranteed that all fuel products distributed through official distribution agencies such as gas stations and Pertashop have met the specifications and passed through strict quality control. The public is also advised to purchase fuel at an official distribution agency to ensure the quality.
“People should always be consistent in choosing quality fuel so that the vehicle's engine is always durable and well-maintained. It is safer to use quality fuel with octane/cetane recommended by the manufacturer,” the Pertamina official emphasized.
