TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) said that the emergency response team formed on the orders of President Jokowi would retest the electronic system in all ministry agencies. This act comes in the aftermath of a data breach by a hacker by the name Bjorka, who leaked Jokowi's correspondence data and the personal information of ministers and state officials.
In a press conference at the BSSN Head Office in Sawangan, Depok, West Java, Tuesday, September 13, BSSN chief Hinsa Siburian said that the special team consisted of four institutions. It is established as the government's emergency response to this case, to maintain public trust.
Jokowi ordered the Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny G Plate to form the emergency team yesterday. "There will be an emergency response team from the BSSN, the Communication Ministry, the Police, and BIN, to make future assessments," Johnny said at the State Palace, Monday, September 12.
However, to this day the team ordered by Jokowi has not actually been formed, even though Johnny had an announcement.
According to Hinsa, this is because the presidential decree on the matter had not been issued.
Bjorka claimed to have hacked into thousands of correspondence documents from the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) addressed to President Joko Widodo from 2019 to 2021, including letters labeled as classified.
Bjorka also briefly disclosed the personal information of several state officials including DPR Speaker Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, SOE Minister Erick Thohir, and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md.
Previously, Bjorka claimed it possesses the data on over 1.3 billion registered SIM cards with a total size of 87 GB. The data contained sensitive information including users' identification number (NIK), telephone numbers.
