TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fire broke out at the warehouse of logistics and shipping company Jalan Nugraha Ekakurir (JNE) in Cimanggis, Depok Monday morning, September 12. The thick black smoke from the fire rose so high that it was visible from Pasar Rebo in East Jakarta, which is some 10 kilometers away from the site.

Welman Naipospos, head of operational control at Depok City's Fire and Rescue Service, said that the JNE warehouse caught fire at dawn.

"We received the reports at around 04:30," Welman said at the fire site, Monday, September 12.

Welman said that the fire brigade sent 12 fire trucks to the location. As of 16:42, firefighters were still trying to put out the fire.

Welman said that extinguishing the fire was quite challenging because of the vast size of the warehouse and the distant access to water source. "The water source is quite far away, that's one of the challenges."
