Indonesian Students Compete in International Earth Science Olympiad in Italy

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology sent eight students to compete at the 15th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO). The competition will be held online in Aosta, Italy from August 25-31, 2022.
The IESO is a prestigious international earth sciences event for high school students. This year, 304 students from 40 countries are participating.
The students are Alvin Dermawan (SMAN 1 Probolinggo), Fahreza Nurhidayat (SMAS Al-Azhar Mandiri Palu), Gevin Kurniawan (SMAN Plus Provinsi Riau), Muhammad Wildan Tamami (SMAN 1 Ponorogo), Revanda Ghassan Randityo (SMAN 1 Tambun Selatan), Sheren Ardeline Tantrian (SMAK Immanuel Pontianak), Yoga Sanjaya (SMAN 3 Surakarta), and Wafi Haidi (MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong).
They are the best students who competed in the 2021 National Science Competition (KSN) in the field of Earth Sciences organized by the Education Ministry's National Achievement Center.
The coordinator of the Indonesian Earth Science Olympiad Team (TOIKI), Hendra Amijaya, said that there are several main test stages at the IESO event. There is the Data Mining Test, the National Team Field Investigation (NTFI), the Earth Science Project (ESP), and the Earth Learning Students' Idea (ELSI) competition.
