TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir highlighted the central role of West Java Province as one of the foundations of Indonesia's economic growth. He stated that Patimban Port and Kertajati Airport will be determined as logistics centers.
“The Patimban Port and Kertajati Airport will be set as cargo centers,” said Erick in a statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday. August 25, 2022.
Thus, the government encouraged a number of strategic projects that are already underway, such as the construction of the high-speed train, Patimban Port, and Kertajati Airport to be operated immediately or be operated more optimally.
“The high-speed train will start operating soon. We will launch the trial run in September 2022. Inshallah, it will operate in June next year,” said Erick at the State Palace, Wednesday.
He opined that this would certainly enrich Jakarta's transportation ecosystem, which already has MRT and soon LRT. “This will boost new economic growth,” he added.
The minister further shared his optimism that the development of economic zones in Subang and Sukabumi will also boost the province’s economy. “We have just been assigned to build the Subang Industrial Estate which is a comprehensive area.”
An inefficient logistics system, Erick Thohir continued, contributed significantly to the prices of goods that must be borne by consumers. The existence of a logistics center is expected to reduce the cost of shipping goods while encouraging local economic growth.
