TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in a written statement on Monday announced that it has recorded 21.27 percent growth in transportation and warehousing in this year’s second quarter compared to the same period in 2021. The first quarter of 2022 logged positive growth of 15.79 percent.

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi urged everyone and stakeholders to maintain the positive momentum that the transportation sector achieved in 2022.

“This result can be an indicator that the recovery in the transportation sector that we have been working on has already taken place. We must maintain this momentum so that in the third and fourth quarters of 2022 the trend continues to pick up," he said in a written statement on Monday, August 8.

Budi said in early 2022 that the Ministry of Transportation has prepared a number of strategies to accelerate the recovery of the transportation sector affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Among them are to optimize non-APBN (state budget) creative funding through Government and Business Entity Cooperation (PPP) in order to fulfill transportation infrastructure needs.

He also mentioned optimizing Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) through the Public Service Agency (BLU) as an alternate funding source to accelerate infrastructure development.
