TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) spokesperson Insp. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo on Wednesday announced that the CCTV at the home of Ferdy Sambo has been found and will be used for the investigation of the death of brigadier J as the footage is currently in the hands of the forensic lab.
This conflicting fact comes after the South Jakarta Police Chief Grand Commissioner Budhi Herdi Susianto - who is now stripped of his position - initially said the CCTV in question was already broken two weeks prior to the incident that reportedly suggest brigadier J had engaged in a shootout with a fellow police officer at Sambo’s house.
This sparked family members of the deceased to question the existence of the CCTV that could help reveal what happened as the tragedy ensued.
“We have found the CCTV that can help reveal the clarity of the case’s reconstruction. It is being studied by a special team that will later be revealed to the public once the investigation by the team is completed,” said the spokesperson in a press conference on July 20.
Dedi pledged to deliver facts comprehensively to the public but detailed information regarding the position of the CCTV and how many were recovered was not explained.
“It can’t be too detailed as that is in the investigation. It will be revealed in court as the evidence must be tested and accounted for by investigators in front of a judge,” said Dedi.
As of today, Budhi Herdi Siswanto had been deactivated by Indonesian National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit because of how the alleged police shootout was handled. The head of the internal security bureau Brig. Gen. Hendra Kurniawan is also set to be replaced.
