Indonesia's Foreign Investment Up to Rp310.4tn; Singapore Dominates with Over 27%

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In the first half of 2022 Indonesia recorded Rp310.4 trillion of actualized foreign direct investment of FDI, a 35.8-percent year-on-year increase. Foreign investments accounted for 53.1 percent of the country's total investment in the semester.
In the second quarter alone, foreign investment amounted to Rp163.2 trillion or 54 percent of the total investment realization.
"This is an increase of 32 percent compared to the same period in 2021," Investment Minister/head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia said in a press conference on Wednesday, July 20.
Bahlil said the biggest investments in Q2 came from Singaporean investors with US$3.1 billion, making up 27.7 percent of the total FDI in the quarter.
Indonesia's second biggest investor in Q2 was China with US$2.3 billion or 20 percent. Hong Kong, Japan and the United States followed with US$1.4 billion (11.9%), US$900 million (8.1%), and US$800 million (6.8%), respectively.
