TEMPO.CO, Nusa Dua - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati held a virtual bilateral meeting with her Italian counterpart Daniele Franco on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governor Meeting (FMCBG) on Monday, July 11, 2022.
During the meeting, Sri asked for Daniele's support for a number of issues to be raised in Indonesia’s G20 Presidency 2022, especially related to the proposed Financial Intermediary Fund (FIF) for pandemic prevention, and preparedness and response.
These issues will be discussed in the G20 Joint Finance and Health Task Force as well as a transitional framework within the sustainable finance agenda to support a just and affordable transition.
In yesterday's meeting, Daniele Franco expressed his full support for the Indonesian Presidency. Indonesia and Italy, Sri went on, also emphasized the importance of the G20's role as an economic forum in helping to overcome various global risks, such as inflation, energy crisis, and food crisis.
“In an effort to overcome the challenges of the global economy, the world needs to have a mutually agreed mechanism, and this is our priority at the G20,” she remarked.
Sri Mulyani also appreciated Italy's support for the Indonesian Presidency and emphasized that Indonesia would make every best effort to reach these agreements.
Indonesia would also continue to consult with G20 member countries, not only in the preparation of the Communique but also in the effort to communicate it to stakeholders outside G20 in a bid to strengthen the international community's trust in the role of the G20 amid the global dynamics.
