Jokowi Taps Son Gibran Rakabuming as INASPOC Head

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo officially appointed Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the head of the Indonesia ASEAN Para Games 2022 Organizing Committee or INASPOC. This is stated in Presidential Regulation No. 95 of 2022 on the 11th ASEAN Para Games signed on June 17, 2022.
In this regulation, Minister of Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy was appointed as the head of the Steering Board, which consisted of ministers and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.
Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali was named the organizer head with the chairman of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Senny Marbun as the deputy.
"The head of INASPOC as referred to [Article 11] paragraph (2a) is chaired by the Mayor of Surakarta (Solo),” as read in the Presidential Regulation.
Indonesia was chosen to replace Vietnam to host the 2022 ASEAN Para Games which is slated to be held July 20-31, 2022.
Previously on Tuesday, June 21, when asked about the possibility to run in the upcoming gubernatorial election as stated by PDIP politician Puan Maharani, Gibran who is President Jokowi's eldest son said he would focus on managing the ASEAN Para Games. “I focus on Solo first, working on the ASEAN Para Games,” he said in Solo.
