Jokowi Tasks New Deputy Minister Raja Juli Antoni to Settle Agrarian Conflicts

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Raja Juli Antoni was appointed and inaugurated as the new Deputy Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning earlier today, June 15. The secretary of the Indonesian Solidarity Party's (PSI) Board of Trustees said that President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, has given him several assignments, including resolving agrarian conflicts.
"The president told me to mainly resolve agrarian conflicts. Yesterday, as I have read, in Wakatobi the president spoke about the 'sword fight', the many conflicts below," Juli said at the state palace in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Juli said he was also assigned to simplify the process of community land titling, combat land mafia practices, and curb the sectoral egos between institutions.
In addition to Raja Juli, today the president inaugurated two other new deputy ministers: John Wempi Watipo as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, and Afriansyah Noor as Deputy Minister of Manpower.
Jokowi also inaugurated new ministers, Hadi Tjahjanto as Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency—replacing Sofyan Djalil, and Zulkifli Hasan as Minister of Trade—replacing Muhammad Lutfi.
