TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo stated before CEOs of big companies in the United States that  Indonesia possesses a vast wealth of green energy. One of their sources is hydro and geothermal power.

“Indonesia is also very rich in green energy potential. Hydro power plants are highly potential [since] there are 4,400 rivers in Indonesia,” said the President in Washington DC as broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, Friday, May 13, 2022.

He underlined that Indonesia has large geothermal power plant potential. The new and renewable energy potential in the country reaches at least 29,000 megawatts.

The former governor of Jakarta ensured that the development of the energy sector, especially power plants in Indonesia, would be in accordance with environmentally-friendly principles. He hopes that this power plant can help the production of vital industrial goods.

“We ensure that essential goods are produced from environmentally-friendly power plants and we invite US businesses to invest in Indonesia,” he remarked.

Jokowi met with the US business leaders during his visits to attend the US-ASEAN Summit from May 12 to 13, 2022.
