AGO to Announce More Suspects in Cooking Oil Mafia Investigation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Attorney General's Office (AGO) Director of Investigation of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Supardi, on Wednesday asserts that the investigation towards the country's cooking oil corruption case will not stop at the four suspects who were already detained. AGO pledges to further broaden the investigation based on the new pieces of evidence that they uncovered.
"There will be a surprise. Expect it within this week or the following week," he said to Bisnis.com on April 20.
Supardi assures that any updates on the case will be announced. He believes the direct implication of this mafia-esque activity had sparked the widespread cooking oil scarcity in Indonesia for the past months.
Previously reported, the Attorney General's Office nabbed four suspects in this case and immediately detained them for charges related to corruption and facilitating crude palm oil exports from January to March.
Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin said investigators obtained enough evidence to name four suspects of CPO facilitating that consists of Indrashari Wisnu Wardhana, Trade Ministry's director general of foreign trade; Wilmar Nabati Indonesia president commissioner, Master Parulian Tumanggor; Permata Hijau Group corporate affair senior manager Stanley MA; and PT Musim Mas general manager Togar Sitanggang.
Meanwhile, Wilmar Group has responded to the nabbing of its senior member and pledged to fully support the upholding of the law. Its latest press statement said it supports the actions of the Attorney General's Office.
Wilmar Group also defends that it had always adhered to existing regulations regarding crude palm oil export permits, "We have been cooperative and supports the government policy," the statement reads
Meanwhile, PT Musim Mas did not comment on the suspect naming of its general affairs general manager, Togar Sitanggang.
