TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, reminded the people who are planning to travel for mudik to get the booster shot immediately and maintain the health protocol.
“So when you leave for your destination, your condition will be healthy, free from Covid-19, and not bring the virus along [to the hometown],” he said in a statement on Friday, April 15.
According to the minister, the government has carried out several preparations for the Eid Homecoming to run well, safely, and healthily.
In a coordination meeting on Thursday, April 14, Deputy Police Chief Coms. Gen. Gatot E Pramono said that his institution has prepared security posts, integrated service posts, and vaccination posts at crowded and vulnerable points by deploying 144,392 personnel.
Gatot hopes that the booster vaccination in the Greater Jakarta area could reach 50 percent a week before Eid Day. As for homecoming destination areas, mostly in Lampung, Central Java, West Java, East Java, and Yogyakarta, the booster vaccination is targeted for 30 percent.
"We are accelerating this vaccination together with the Ministry of Health, Task Force, TNI (military), and stakeholders. Our hope is that when people go to their hometowns and return [to Jakarta], there will be no spikes in Covid-19 cases," he remarked.
