Mild Earthquakes Strike Bukittinggi and Banda, Says BMKG

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Monday announced a series of earthquakes that struck Bukittinggi in West Sumatra and Banda located on Maluku island.
The latest one struck Banda at 06:12 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) and was measured at magnitude 3.3 that originated 50 kilometers off the coast west of Banda Islands and at a depth of 10 kilometers.
This followed an earlier quake that took place minutes before, measured at magnitude 2.8 from the same hypocenter and 5 kilometers off the coast of Banda.
Meanwhile, the earthquake striking Bukittinggi happened one hour after midnight at 01:14 WIB, measured at magnitude 4.5. Milder quakes also struck regions such as Padang Panjang, Tanah Datar, Solok, Pasaman and Pariaman, the BMKG reported.
