West Pasaman Earthquake Kills Two, Injures 20

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - At least two people were killed and 20 others injured in the 6.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Indonesia's West Pasaman Regency in Sumatra this morning.
Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lt. Gen. Suharyanto, said
"We have been fatalities in West Pasaman Regency, there are reports of 2 deaths and 20 injuries," Suharyanto said at a press conference, Friday, February 25, 2022.
Suharyanto said the data was still temporary. The BNPB, he said, would continue to coordinate with field officers and collect more information.
"Hopefully soon we can confirm the actual number of casualties and the damages," he said.
Bambang Setiyo Prayitno from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency's (BMKG), said that the tectonic earthquake's center was at 0.14° N and 99.94° East Longitude, 12 km Northeast of West Pasaman, at a depth of 10 km.
As of 10:06 West Indonesia Time, the BMKG has monitored 15 aftershocks, the strongest one at a magnitude of 4.2.
