TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said that there are currently 14 neighborhood units or RT in the capital categorized as Covid-19 red zones. This means there are more than 10 households in each neighborhood that had been exposed to the new coronavirus and are under close supervision by the local Health Service.
"There are 216 RTs that are now orange zones. Meanwhile, there are 5,490 RTs declared as yellow zones," said Riza at City Hall in Central Jakarta, Friday, February 11.
A yellow zone means a neighborhood where there are one to five households where the members have contracted Covid-19. Orange zones mean six to 10 households.
The deputy governor asked residents to implement strict health protocols. This is to ensure no more neighborhoods become red zones, especially as cases are predicted to rise further until March.
"We ask people to stay home for non-urgent matters. Work from home as much as possible," he said.
The municipality of West Jakarta currently has the most number of red zone neighborhoods. Last week, 25 RTs in eight sub-districts were declared as red zones. The neighborhoods are then put on micro lockdowns.
As of February 10, Indonesia reported more than 40,000 new cases over the last 24 hours, of which more than 11,000 cases from Jakarta.
