TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the National Development Planning Agency or Bappenas, Suharso Monoarfa, responded to a number of emerging issues surrounding the relocation of the state capital or a new capital city, including whether or not the program will burden the state budget (APBN).
The central government, he emphasized, would adapt to such a business and financial model that would not conflict with the state budget and would instead increase the government's assets. However, he stopped short of explaining the detail.
“We won’t necessarily harm our children and grandchildren in the future, not at all so that I dare to reject this issue,” said Suharso in a press conference after the DPR plenary session at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 18.
Earlier, the DPR’s plenary session today officially approved the bill on state capital or RUU IKN. The bill is pending for ratification by President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.
Suharso also underlined that the establishment of the special regional government in the new capital city in eastern Kalimantan would not violate the 1945 Constitution.
