TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The revitalization project of 10 pedestrian lanes or sidewalks in five areas of Jakarta has been completed. Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria encouraged people to take care of public facilities.
“Let's take care of pedestrian facilities together to make the city pedestrian-friendly,” said Riza via his Instagram account @arizapatria, Monday, December 27.
Among the ten sidewalks revamped in 2021 by the Bina Marga Agency were Jalan Senopati, Jalan Suryo, Jalan Tebet Raya, and Jalan Wolter Monginsidi of South Jakarta; Jalan Duri Kosambi Raya in West Jakarta; and Jalan Raden Saleh in Central Jakarta.
The other sidewalks were located in West Jakarta Primary Center, precisely Jalan Puri Wangi and Jalan Pesanggrahan, as well as Jalan Layur in East Jakarta.
In North Jakarta, the revamped pedestrian lanes included Jalan Gorontalo Raya, Jalan Gadang, and Jalan Gorontalo II of Taman Segitiga Gorontalo.
The provincial government noted that from 2018 to 2021, the city had built sidewalks covering an area of 812,328 square meters across the capital. Of that figure, the sidewalk areas reached 52,022 square meters in 2021.
Previously, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the government has conducted several sidewalks restoration projects given its vision that sidewalks should not only be for people to commute, but also can be used for many cultural and social activities.
