Police Send 700 Officers to Raid Drug Den in North Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police raided a place in Kampung Bahari, North Jakarta suspected to be a drug trafficking den. No less than 700 officers were dispatched to the scene this morning, December 22.
The Jakarta Metro Police's PR chief, Sr. Comr. Endra Zulpan, said that the raid took place on Wednesday morning at around 10:00, involving officers from the Metro's Drug Directorate and the North Jakarta Drug Investigation Unit.
"We apprehended 27 people, 23 men and four women," Zulpan said in a written statement.
The police also confiscated 31 packs of small clips containing marijuana, 12 clips of shabu-shabu or crystal methamphetamine, and 1 plastic package of leftover crystal meth. Other confiscated items included eight sharp weapons, 1 bow and arrow, and a police badge.
Zulpan said that the suspects are currently detained at the North Jakarta Police "for further investigation."
