TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Military Command (Kodam Jaya) spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Dwi Indra Wirawan on Wednesday announced that one of its personnel has been pulled from his duties at the Wisma Atlet Pademangan Covid-19 hospital and quarantine facility after writing down his phone number on a passport owned by a female college student.
“He has been pulled from his duties at the Wisma Atlet and returned to his unit,” said Indra to Tempo on December 22.
This caused public outcry after the female student complained about the incident in a social media post, which many interpreted as an attempt by the soldier to entice the young student. She strongly objected as the phone number was written unwillingly on her passport, which is an official state document.
Moreover, Indra said the perpetrator will be punished for his actions and that he will mediate the meeting between the military personnel and the student.
“The suspect has apologized and will be responsible for replacing the passport with a new one. It was done immediately,” he added.
