Luhut Says No Outbreak of Omicron Yet; Cases Only Found in Wisma Atlet

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said that as of now the only cases of the new B.1.1.529 or Omicron variant had only been detected in the Wisma Atlet Kemayoran Emergency Covid-19 Hospital.
According to Luhut, there is no outbreak because the case was detected early in a quarantine zone.
"To date, the only cases of the Omicron variant are only found in Wisma Atlet, which is on lockdown. So far, as of today, [Omricon infections] have not been found among the general public," Luhut said in a press conference, Monday, December 20.
Indonesia has detected three confirmed Covid-19 of the Omicron variant. The first patient is a janitor working at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, who caught the coronavirus from a Nigerian quarantining there.
The other two cases are travelers from the USA and the UK. Both patients are being quarantined in Wisma Atlet.
