TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian planned to issue circular instructing regional heads to set rules on the use of the PeduliLindungi mobile app in public spaces, including the sanctions, in an effort to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
“With Perkada (regional head regulation), sanctions can be imposed on those who are not disciplined in using the PeduliLindungi app. The sanctions can be in an administrative form, such as a revocation of the business permit,” Tito said at a press conference, Tuesday, December 21.
He also explained the government would not close public areas during the Christmas and New Year holidays but tighten restrictions, including encouraging the discipline of using the COVID-91 app.
“According to the Home Affairs Ministerial Instruction (Inmndagri) on Nataru (Christmas and New Year holidays), the crowd should not exceed 50 people. The capacity of public spaces will be monitored through PeduliLindungi,” he added.
Tito Karnavian said the government would ask for the legal basis on the mandatory use of the PeduliLindungi app through a Regional Regulation or Perda. Consequently, people who violate the rules can be subject to criminal sanctions in the form of fines.
