Ministry Issues Air Travel Regulation for Christmas and New Year

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Transportation had issued Circular Letter No. 111 of 2021 that regulates people mobility using air transportation for the 2021 Christmas and New Year 2022 period. The Circular Letter will enter into force starting from Dcember 24, 2021, until January 2, 2022.
Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Novie Riyanto, said that the government hoped that people mobility during the year end holiday can go smoothly.
"Let's continue to impement strict health protocol, either at the airport or inside the airplane. Comply with prevailing rules. Together we help maintain a healthy, secure, and convenient flight," Novie said on Friday, December 17, 2021.
Pursuant to the new regulation, airplane passengers must pay attention to the following conditions before making trips:
- Adult passengers above 12 years old are obliged to receive complete Covid-19 vaccine and must present Antigen test result. The maximum time limit of the sampling for the Antigen test is 1x24 hours.
- Residents who have not received complete vaccine, including because of medical reasons, are temporarily not allowed to conduct long-range travels.
- Residents who will conduct travels for medical purposes, but are yet to receive complete vaccine, are allowed to board an airplace after presenting PCR test results with a maximum time limit of the sampling set to 3x24 hours. Passengers of this cateogry is also obliged to obtain a statement letter from a doctor of a government hospital.
- Children below 12 years old are obliged to present PCR test result that is valid for 3x24 hours.
- Provisions on vaccine certificates and Antigen tests are not applicable for pioneer transportation, including on border areas, and remote regions.
In addition to passengers, the Ministry of Transportation also regulated that airplane operators must not increase flight frequency. The Ministry will not issue permits for an increase in flight frequency or extra flights during the Christmas and 2022 New Year period.
