Here are 12 Fruits That Can Revitalize and Hydrate Skin

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Without doubt, consuming fruits at least two times a day is important for a balanced and healthy diet. Additionally, fruits are also useful for the skin. There are many nutritions inside fruits that can help improve skin's condition, starting from anti-oxidant to all kinds of vitamins.
Obviously, a routine skin treatment can help create a more bright and smooth skin. However, regardless of the color of the skin, diet including fruits is beneficial for the growth of the human organs. Furthermore, consuming fruit in general is good for the health.
Quoted from POPSUGAR website, certified dermatologists Dendy Engelman and Kristen Fleming explained the most beneficial fruit for the skin which has nutritions to keep the skin dehydrated.

1. Watermelon
Even though it's the freshest of fruits and fit to eat during summer, it also has a long lasting effect for the skin. "Fruits with immense amount of water, such as watermelon is the source of hydration, which is the key to maintain the skin," said Engelman.
Watermelon is made up of 93% water and rich of malic acid which helps removing dead cells from the skin's top layer thus created smoother skin.
2. Berry
Whether it's strawberry, blueberry or blackberry, berry in general is beneficial for the skin because it contains anti-oxidant, vitamin A and C. "Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant and creates collagen whereas Vitamin A is used to treat acnes and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. Both vitamins is also used to fix hyperpigmentation," said Fleming. Do not limit consumption only for the afore mentioned fruits, tries mulberry, raspberry and cranberry who is also good for the skin.
3. Coconut
Does coconut only exist for the vacation and pina colada? Think again. Fatty fruit such as coconut is good for the skin hydration and additionally it helps produce lauric acid which helps in killing bacterias causing acnes. Other than the raw fruit, the oil also contains linoleic acid which helps to maintain skin humidity.
4. Banana
Aside from filling and provides energy, banana contains phenolic and antimicrobial, which treats acne lesions. According to Fleming, phenolic is a substance that protects enzymes which causes damages to collagen and elastin on the skin and phenolic mainly found in banana's skin to be used to treat burnt or dermatitis.
5. Papaya
It is not only liked for the sweet taste and tropical vibes, but also because it contains papain and chymopapain which helps reduce inflammation and useful for maintaining skin's damage, aging and improves elasticity because of its immense anti-oxidant said Engelman.
6. Avocado
There are reason why people love this fruit on their toast, because it has benefit for the skin. Engelman said avocado supports the collagen and elastin structures inside the skin to maintain the youth longer. Avocado is also rich of anti-oxidant and beneficial fat such as oleic acid covered by a compound to protects the skin from damages caused by the sun.
7. Plums
Fleming said that this fruit has anti-oxidant that can neutralize free radicals that caused aging. Rich of anti-oxidant, it also protects the skin from the sun's UV light.
8. Pomegranate
It contains lots of benefits such as anti-oxidant and Vitamin C that can reduce cells degeneration and inflammation. It also has natural antimicrobial from vitamin C that can combat fungal and bacteria growth which causes acnes.
9. Mango
"Mango is the rich source of beta carotene and vitamin A precursors, which has the benefit for the skins prone to aging and acnes," said Fleming.
10. Grapefruit
Among the known citrus that is good for health, this fruit has an anti-aging vitamin C and can increase collagen production and maintain the skin's brightness.
11. Oranges
Similar to grapefruit, orange also increases collagen production. Engelman explained that it has the ability to evens skin tone and texture. Consuming oranges helps to tighten the skin and conceal aging signs.
12. Grape Seed
The small and crunchy seeds inside red and green grapes certainly is good for the skin. According to Engelman, consuming the seeds can help in protecting the skin from harmful sun ray which caused wrinkles and sun spots.
Both Engelman and Fleming agree that even though the vitamins and nutritions contained in the fruits can help to maintain, dehydrate the skin, it also is good to maintain the health. Choose one of the fruit, and consider to include it on your daily diet.
