Sexual Crime Suspect Using Online Game to Entice Minor Victim

30 November 2021 22:59 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) on Tuesday arrested a 21 year old male identified as S who is facing a sexual crime charge committed to a minor through an online game called Free Fire.

“The suspect would pick his victims through the online gaming platform, which are underage girls,” said chief of the police cybersecurity unit directorate Sr. Commissioner Reinhard Hatagaol on Tuesday, November 30.

According to the police commissioner, the suspect's Free Fire account was known to be REZA. In last August, he met with one of his victims who was just aged 9. He enticed her to give him her WhatsApp number.

The suspect who resides in East Kalimantan then sent the innocent girl inappropriate videos and photos and enticed the victim to reenact lewd acts. S threatened to erase the 9-year old’s game account if his requests were not heeded.

S’s crime was revealed after the victim’s parents grew suspicious of their daughter’s defensiveness when they tried to look at her mobile phone. The parents eventually found lewd images and videos in the trash folder.

Police arrested S on crimes against minors and committing acts related to pornography. The suspect is facing up to 15 years behind bars.
