Religious Affairs Minister Commemorates International Day for Tolerance

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In commemorating the international day for tolerance on November 16, Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said in the Religious Affairs Ministry website that this day should celebrate diversity and tolerance in real life. 

He conveyed that this celebration must also be understood so that everyone realizes the importance of giving space to one another.

Citing the website Kemenag.go.id, Minister, Yaqut said that, “we need to continue to raise awareness that religious, linguistic, cultural and ethnic diversities are not the pretext for conflict, but the wealth of humankind.”

He talked about the potential diversity poses for mankind to know each other, which will give way for the common good and benefit through collaboration. Minister Yaqut also spoke about religious moderation, which he made clear is the act of moderating a person’s understanding and experience towards religion.
