Ahok Visits Indonesia's Oldest Oil Refinery

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pertamina's chief commissioner Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, also known as Ahok, visited Pertamina workers at the Plaju refinery, Palembang, South Sumatra. This refinery has been operating since 1904, and is the oldest oil refinery in Indonesia.
"Although it is old, Plaju Refinery has carried out many innovations, including digital initiatives and cost optimization efforts, which I hope can optimize foreign exchange," Ahok said on his official Instagram account, @basukibtp, Tuesday, October 5.
He also encouraged Pertamina's workers to be more creative in innovating, effective in executing, give zero tolerance for accidents, and level the playing field.
Basuki also visited the Kertapati Fuel Terminal in South Sumatra, during which he reminded Pertamina Patra Niaga to ensure supplies for the entire southern Sumatra region. He said he didn't want there to be a shortage of fuel or LPG.
He also asked Pertamina to open opportunities for anyone who wants to partner with the company.
"Open an opportunity to level the playing field and be fair to anyone who wants to open a Pertashop, gas station and become an LPG agent," Ahok said.
