TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has allocated approximately Rp275 billion for building road infrastructure in Sepaku sub-district, Penajam Paser Utara district, East Kalimantan, as part of the development of the new Indonesian capital city.

The central government has continued to build supporting infrastructure in the new capital area, development section head of the Regional Secretariat of North Penajam Paser district, Nicko Herlambang, stated in Penajam on Saturday.

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has begun to build a ring road in Sepaku sub-district. The start of construction was marked with the first-stone laying on Wednesday (September 29, 2021).

"The (last) information we got, that the construction package of the ring road has been auctioned by the PUPR Ministry," Herlambang remarked.

The ring road construction in Sepaku has been divided into three segments, he said.

Segment one will be built at a cost of around Rp61.7 billion, segment two around Rp66.8 billion, and segment three Rp60.6 billion, he informed. Thus, the total budget for the ring road construction is approximately Rp189 billion, he added.

The ring road will span 5,775 kilometers: segment one will stretch over 1.75 kilometers, segment two 1.85 kilometers, and segment three 2,175 kilometers, Herlambang said.

The PUPR Ministry is also working on the rehabilitation of road access to PT ITCI (International Timber Corporation Indonesia) Hutani Manunggal, or IHM, by building a road spanning 8,724 kilometers at a budget of around Rp13 billion, he added.

According to Herlambang, the budget for the road infrastructure development has been sourced from the state budget.

Road construction in the new capital will also be carried out using the regional budget of around Rp73 billion, he added.

Road reconstruction will cover Semoi Sepaku - Petung 1 road and Semoi Sepaku - Petung 2 road, he said adding, a budget of around Rp12 billion has been allocated for each project.

Meanwhile, approximately Rp21 billion will be spent on the construction of the Semoi Sepaku - Petung 3 road, and around Rp28 billion on the improvement of Semoi Sepaku - Petung road, he said.

"The total budget allocated through the state budget and East Kalimantan's regional budget for road improvement in the new state capital is approximately Rp275 billion," he added.
